This 1954 300SL Mercedes Benz Gullwing was a full restoration.
All the panels were sanded back to bare metal. Body panels were fabricated and rewelded to the shell, which also included aluminium welding. A 5mm gap had to be maintained for every opening.
The highest finish was achieved by first painting the exterior and then sanding. Another 3 costs of clear lacquer were applied to the vehicle to achieve a glass like finish. This finish is more expensive however is the recommended finish for show or exhibition vehicles.
